Those of you who have read me for awhile know that I have three sons. Last night their father had a sudden heart attack from which he did not recover. He died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. The most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do was wake my 16 year old son and tell him why, in the middle of the night, we had to get up, get dressed and meet the rest of his family. It was a gut-wrenching, heart-breaking 30 mile trip.
Why do I post this? Because I know many of you believe in the healing power of thoughts and prayer. And my beautiful three boys could use all of the healing they can get right now. It’s going to be a long road for them.
And please, allow me to ask one more favor of you? Right now, right this minute—hug your children close and tell them that you love them. If they don’t live with you, call them and tell them. Write them. Send them an email or text–whatever mode of communication works. Just reach out to them, even if they don’t want you to. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Hey Kim, I’m so sorry to hear this! Even after divorce we are still family and I can only imagine what you must be going through. My prayers are with your sons as they struggle to accept the loss of their father.

I’m sorry to hear this. I understand the pain of someone losing a father to a heart attack. It’s so instant. I was an adult and it was devastating. So I know how horrible it is for them — and you.
