It’s been awhile since I’ve posted, I know. So it kind of makes sense that my favorite pattern in 2009 was from the Summer, 2006 issue of Knitty. Fetching. Ah, Fetching.
This pattern was such a pleasure to make, that I made two identical pair. I know, I know–it’s kind of weird, and a little boring, right? But see, that’s the special thing about this pattern. It wasn’t boring. Even making it twice in the same yarn. I loved the little cables and the picot-y goodness reaching up toward the fingers. :::swoon:::
Both pair were made with Manos Del Uruguay Wool Clasica in a sweet, lovely shade of pink.
One pair I made for my son Michael’s girlfriend, Sarah…
I added an extra set of cables to the wrist, making them a bit longer than the original.
Another addition was an extra deep picot edging, making those little points nice & pronounced. The result is very princess-like, and I love it.
The second pair was made for my friend Sharyn’s daughter Alexa, who is now off to Holland to live for a few month with her Dutch fiance. Being the globetrotter that Alexa is, she needed some Idaho Princess Mitts to take with her, don’t you think?
Now I want a pair for myself, but I’ve run out of Manos, so I may just have to spin some bulky singles and dye them a similar hue. Yeah, that’s what I’ll do. In my spare time.

They’re lovely, Kim! The lavender is perfect for this time of year. I’ve knit these a few times as gifts myself. Yep, never tire of the pattern. Play hard this weekend!
