comparing Suedes
There were some great comments on the price of Berroco Suede, and some good tips for finding it or a substitute at a lesser price. I've compiled those tips, and did a bit more research and here are the results:
In the meantime, get a load of Mary Beth's cute new hat, using the "Cool" pattern from Rowan. Some people have great hat heads. Me, I just have a great big head. Don't believe me? Take a look:

See what I mean? Ha! Have a great Sunday, everyone!

OMG, Kim, you are too funny. Stop that with that photo. You look like.....omg, I can't think of who you look like. It's just TOOOOOOOO FUNNY. Could you have any more of a GLUM look on your face? This is like that photo that I posted with my glasses where I was making a face. Only one or two people dared to say it...because they might have thought I really LOOKED like that.
BUT, BUT, BUT< have you already ordered the Lion Brand Suede? Because it's not at all like Berroco suede, and I'm afraid you might be disappointed. it's more squiggly, like chenile. I have no idea where they come off saying it feels like suede. It doesn't. But Berroco suede truly does. It doesn't seem like it'd have the same gauge, either. Certainly the final product is not going to look the same at all.
I have to agree with norma ... the LB Suede is more like chenille, which gives a very different feeling from suede. Besides, the gauge is much bulkier ... not as delicate as Berroco Suede. I found a yarn called Chekor in this site: http://littleknits.com/products.php?cat=169 ... it read "knits and wears like suede and velvet" and is $9 for almost 300 yards! I emailed the owner asking how this compared with Berroco Suede, but still haven't heard from her yet. The $7.5 a ball plus free shipping is the cheapest you can find for the real thing, I believe.
Believe us, the LB Suede is not what you want!
You are TOO FUNNY! I think I look like a CONEHEAD! We are our own worst critics for sure. Interesting what Norma said about the yarns being so different. No matter how you slice it, $50 for a bag is tough to swallow. LB might be different, but in a good way...
You are a funny, funny girl.
