Fun with Sophie
Sophie is all worked up and ready for a nice hot bath. I'm not using the handles in the pattern - instead I'm going to make and attach a pair of beaded handles. But I wanted to find a way of attaching the handles that was better than what I used for my first Sophie: after felting, I had sewn in some D-rings and attached the handles to those. It worked, but I don't think it looked real professional. So this time I did something different. Following the pattern and placing six stitches on each side in a holder (in the pattern, I-cord is worked from these stitches), I then worked 11 rows of garter from those 6 stitches, and bound them off, forming a tab on each side of the bag.

Then I placed a 32mm split ring over the tab ....

(no, I wasn't drunk at the time I took this)
folded the tab over to the inside top of the bag and sewed it down.

Here's a photo of Sophie, pre-felting. I've put the salt container in the picture for size perspective, and the breakfast dishes haven't been done yet, so their identity has been masked. You can click the photo for a larger version, but the sink area will still be blurry. :)

Now it's time to get Sophiegirl into the bath. Felted photos coming soon--enjoy your Saturday, everyone!

Oh, I love the colors! I had thought of doing some sort of tab like that, too. I'm anxious to see how it turns out. (One thing I was a little worried about was how well it would hold up, carrying all my heavy loot.) I'm going to be doing some more felting soon, too -- Ab's asking for some zippered pouches, coin purses, etc.
